School Dress Code

At the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year, Abbott Middle School joined all of the other Waukegan middle schools in requiring students to wear school uniforms.

All Abbott Middle School students will wear solid black or purple tops (collar or t-shirts) with khaki or black pants.  Khaki or black shorts, skirts, or capris may be worn during hot weather and appropriate black or purple sweaters or sweatshirts (no hoods) may be worn in the colder months.  We also have the following dress regulations that we enforce.

1.  No shirts or clothes with any writing, pictures, prints, or designs except for Abbott Middle School logo clothing.

2.  No hooded apparel.

3.  No blue jeans, sweat pants, pajamas, or cargo pants.

4.  No open toed/heeled shoes. No sandals, flipflops or slippers.

5.  No short shorts!  Shorts must cover the thigh.

6.  Splits in skirts must be only to the knee.

7.  No mesh see through outfits.

8.  No tube or tank tops.

9.  No bathing suits.

10.  No "sexy, revealing outfits".

11.  No heavy make up or lipstick.

NOTE: Students who wear inappropriate clothes to school will be told to put on a gym suit.  If that is refused, students will be sent home to change. We will ask that heavy make up be removed. Jackets and hats are to be stored in lockers.

Thank you for your cooperation and support of our uniform/dress code policy.
