Cooke Cougar Closet

We are looking to start a new program at Cooke and need your help.  If you have any gently used school uniforms or Cooke Spirit Wear that need a new home, please bring them into school so we can pass them on to anyone who is in need.  You can drop them off anytime in the office.

Estamos por dar inicio a un Nuevo programa en la Cooke y necesitamos su colaboració.  Si entre sus pertenencias tienen uniformes de la Cooke que ya no necesiten y están en buena condición, o ropa en general con el logo (el puma) de nuestra escuela, favor de traernos todo lo que puedan a la escuela para así regalar, o repartir, a alguien en necesidad.  Pueden pasar a la ecuela a la hora que gusten y dejar la ropa en la oficina.

PTO INVOLVEMENT

As parents, you have taken the first step in wanting the best education possible for your child.  For a mere $10.00, you can do even more.  For $10.00 you can get family membership to the Andrew Cooke Magnet School PTO.  PTO stands for Parent/Teacher Organization.  100% of Cooke teachers pay their membership dues each year.  We would like our parents to match that.  Your dues provide important programming for your child/children.

This year we will spend approximately over $15,000 for funding the following expenses:

  • $200 average per classroom totaling $4,700
  • $500 for specialists totaling $3,000
  • $250 average for field trips per classroom totaling $6,200
  • $5,500 for Student Development, which includes Artist in Residence. Assemblies and Fine Arts Day

Participating in our fundraisers is essential for the PTO to be successful.  Donations from corporations are generated by dedicated PTO members, such as Mrs. Ahern who has worked diligently writing grants that secure funding for programs to benefit our children’s education.   Additional fundraisers include Sampler, Market Day, Fall/Spring fundraisers, Book Fair, Picture Day, Box Tops, and Coke Rewards.

Many of the PTO Executive Board Members and Committee Volunteers will be leaving at the end of this school year, as their youngest child is in the fifth grade.  This means that many positions will become vacant, such as the following:

We encourage ALL PARENTS to be part of the PTO.  It is a great way to meet other parents and have a lot of fun.  Our PTO members names will be posted in the school and your children would love to point out your name.  Members also get a PTO directory.  Better than all of those benefits is the fact that your child knows that you are involved, and that you add to the continued success of Andrew Cooke Magnet School.  We are urging each and every one of you to join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
