The Waukegan Public Schools Foundation has announced the recipients of its annual grant awards, with 14 projects at nine different Waukegan schools selected to share nearly $10,000 in grant funding for the 2011-2012 academic year.
The Foundation, which is made up of a dozen community leaders and District 60 employees, awarded $9,893.00 for projects ranging from take home literacy bags and salute to soil and squirms, to a number of math programs.
“I’m very impressed with the quality of the grants this year,” said Foundation vice president, Mr. Douglas Stiles, a Waukegan attorney. “The teachers have really come up with some very innovative projects that will add to the engagement of the students.”
