About Our School

Glen Flora Elementary School opened its doors to students in September 1921. Its attendance area was made up of territory originally assigned to North and Central students. Glen Flora was named for the nearby street. Originally, a first through sixth grade school, Glen Flora housed 150 students. The next year a seventh grade was added, and continued growth of the school-aged population necessitated adding new rooms, and a gymnasium. During the summer of 1996, a seven-classroom, two-bathroom modular addition was added to Glen Flora’s original building.

Our mission at Glen Flora Elementary is to maintain a safe, challenging, engaging, and nurturing school of integrity where all students grow to become respectable citizens and reach their full potential. The vision is Students, Family and Staff Enriching our World through Learning.

Glen Flora School’s mascot is the tiger, which leads us to our slogan that Glen Flora is a place “Where All Students Have Pride,” pride to do their best. Students are expected to come to school on time and ready to learn, pay attention to their teacher, ask questions when they need help, study at home in a quiet place, complete their homework on time in a thorough and legible way, behave responsibly, and treat other people with respect. Students are also expected to read or be read to by their families for 30 minutes every day for pleasure and learning.
