Waukegan School District's Response to Intervention Model
- Response to Intervention is a problem-solving model in which educational supports and interventions are provided based on student needs.
- Basic Components of Response to Intervention:
- Utilization of Research-based instruction and interventions
- Use of the problem-solving model to match intensity of services to student needs
- Frequent data collection and decision making that is based on student performance
- Role of the School Psychologist within the Response to Intervention Model:
- Help with problem solving and collecting information that helps make decisions about appropriate academic and/or behavioral interventions for students
- Assess educational outcomes for students
- Deliver academic and/or social/emotional interventions
- Consult with teachers, families, and administrators
- Help develop positive behavior supports for all students
