Waukegan School District's Response to Intervention Model

  • Response to Intervention is a problem-solving model in which educational supports and interventions are provided based on student needs.
  • Basic Components of Response to Intervention:
    • Utilization of Research-based instruction and interventions
    • Use of the problem-solving model to match intensity of services to student needs
    • Frequent data collection and decision making that is based on student performance
  • Role of the School Psychologist within the Response to Intervention Model:
    • Help with problem solving and collecting information that helps make decisions about appropriate academic and/or behavioral interventions for students
    • Assess educational outcomes for students
    • Deliver academic and/or social/emotional interventions
    • Consult with teachers, families, and administrators
    • Help develop positive behavior supports for all students
