Testing Information
ACT


Waukegan High School is a test site for all testing dates. Registration can be done online or through the mail. Registration packets are available in the guidance department. All students must take the ACT in order to graduate. This requirement is met when all Juniors take the Prairie State (PSAE) in April of their Junior year. However, students may take the ACT additional times to improve their score.  More information on the ACT


PSAE

The PSAE (Prairie State Achievement Exam) is a required exam given to all Junior students.  It is required by the state of Illinois and also required in order to receive a high school diploma. The PSAE is given on April 28-29, 2010.  The first exam day is the ACT test.  The second exam day is the WorkKeys test.  The ACT test scores from the first day can be used for college admissions purposes.  Students are encouraged to try their best on both exams.  The exams are free and given during a special testing schedule.  Current Senior students who are unsure if they met the PSAE graduation requirement should see their counselor.  More information on the PSAE

PSAT

The PSAT test is given each October and offered to Sophomores and Juniors.  Students sign-up and pay for the test in the school store.  Juniors who take the test may qualify for National Merit status based on their scores.  More information on the PSAT


ASVAB

The ASVAB test is given each year in during the beginning of December.  The exam is given by the department defense.  Results provide students with career related information in both the military and civilian sectors. The test is free and students sign up for the test in the guidance department about 3-4 weeks before the exam.  More information on the ASVAB

SAT

The SAT and SAT Subject tests are also offered a Waukegan High School.  Juniors and Seniors may elect to take the exam(s) for specific universities that may require scores on the tests in order to be considered for admission.  When doing college research pay close attention to admission requirements and sign-up for tests you may need in order to be considered for admission.  For example some college engineering programs may require math or physics SAT subject scores in order to be considered for admission.  More information on the SAT and SAT Subject Tests
